Coach Joshua David Ferriell had a variety of titles. Outside of being WKU’s Men’s & Women’s Rugby Football Clubs’ (WKUMRFC) Head Coach & Faculty Advisor, he was a Son, a Father, a Veteran and mostly a Mentor to all.
Josh had spent over a decade committed to the growth of both of these teams until he passed while continuing to pursue his passions. Josh had laid the ground work to begin a scholarship fund to endow students to compete for both teams.
Coach was more than your typical Sport Club coach, WKUMRFC was his life. Constantly Josh and his officers were planning for current & future seasons.
Josh’s dedication for these teams were unmatched by any degree. Josh didn’t like the level of competition he had for his team so in the off-season Josh developed his own conference in the Midwest for his team to join in for a chance in D-2 competitive play. Josh was recruiting across state lines up until he even the moment passed. Josh was laid to rest with his team, old team mates, friends, and family present, dressed in the way he wanted too. To honor his memory, friends, family and former players established a scholarship fund in his name. The fund assists deserving members of WKU Rugby Team to obtain a higher education.
